Things to do during your stay

Gardens

There are several beautiful English gardens nearby to explore. The spectacular Gertrude Jekyll designed Vann Gardens are just a five minute walk away. By car Ramster Gardens are a 10 minute drive and the famous RHS gardens at Wisley are just 30 minutes away.

Walking / Hiking

There is an abundance of public footpaths and bridleways to explore. Walnut Tree Cottage itself is less than a mile from the Greensand Way walk. We have maps we can lend you although these days you can find lots of walks via google or apps such as Komoot.

Cycling

Walnut Tree Cottage is on the well documented Surrey Cycleway route. As well as road cycling there are places where you can explore on mountain bikes. You can hire bikes from the village itself. For a real challenge Box Hill and the famous hill climb is just over 20 miles away but the views are spectacular if you can complete it.

Our local pub The Merry Harriers offers a llama trekking experience which includes lunch and is highly recommended. Horse riding is also available at various local equestrian schools and stables.

Gin Tasting

The Village Spirit Collective with its rather topical Vann Lane Gin in Hambledon and Blackdown Distillery in Lurgashall offer gin tasting.

Chiddingfold Golf Club and West Surrey Golf club are both less than three miles away.

Dominic is an avid angler and he can advise! There are several good day ticket coarse river and lake fisheries as well as trout fisheries within a few miles.
